The Warburgs, A German Banking Dynasty, the 1860s -1918
Descended from the City of Warburg in Germany (from which they gave themselves the name), the family can trace itself back four centuries to the 1600s. While not quite as influential, charismatic or as rich as the Rothschilds, the Warburgs were at one stage the foremost banking dynasty in Germany. Like the Du Ponts after them, the Warburgs were fabulously wealthy even before making the decision to live in the US. Before the rise of anti Semitism against them and Jews in general, the Warburgs were fiercely nationalistic and interested in making their mark on German soil.
At different times, the Warburgs operated in special areas [ghettos] designated only for them, while being favoured as bankers and moneylenders to state leaders and privileged citizens but still seen with a watchful eye. While still in Germany, the Warburgs travelled overseas and opened international branches and, unlike the Rothschilds, were not as unwilling to marry outside the family and even to Non Jews. One such insider was a Rothschild, albeit from a different family and not the more famous banking dynasty with the same name. Eventually however, the Warburgs became known most for the famous five brothers of later years in the twentieth century.
Through marriage alliances, financial connections, fate and political monetary assistance to the German governments as late as 1862 starting with Otto Van Bismarck, the Warburgs were a banking dynasty not to be trifled with. As late as the 1900s, only a tiny proportion of the Warburg Family had settled in the USA, the majority remained in Germany and spread evenly across the country. The American branch however with in laws, the Schiffs and new partners, the Harrimans, and William Rockefeller [brother of John D Rockefeller] teamed up in the early 1900s to oust the Morgan Family from control of the Northern Pacific Railroad. The result was titanic stock market crash and an eventual truce, but made the US Warburg branch enshrined as one of the great players in the American scene. Later in 1902, Jakob Schiff, an in law of the Warburgs secured a business lunch with President Theodore Roosevelt to discuss monetary reform.

Over 500 Russian troops take part in military drills in Crimea
More than 500 troops of the Black Sea Fleet’s ground force have taken part in a tactical exercise on the Crimean Peninsula, the fleet’s press-service told the media on Wednesday.
“Mechanized infantry units of a separate coast defense brigade of the Black Sea Fleet’s army corps have held company level tactical exercises at a combat training site in Crimea. Involved in it were more than 500 troops and about 100 pieces of military equipment, such as T-72B3 main battle tanks, BTR-80 armored personnel carriers and army aviation of the Southern Military District,” the news release runs.
According to the press-service, the troops enjoying air support practiced offensive and defensive operations, organization and camouflaging of positions, mine-planting, ambushes, reconnaissance operations and the landing of mobile groups in the enemy’s rear.
One of the main tasks of the exercise was to test the commanders’ skills and ability to independently make decisions and take improvised action depending on the current battlefield situation.

A new batch of citizens return from camps in Jordan
Daraa, SAN A- A new batch of returnees returned Wednesday from refugee camps in Jordan through Nassib-Jaber border crossing with Jordan to their towns and villages liberated by the Syrian Arab Army from terrorism.
SANA reporter from the border crossing said that a number of families that include tens of members, most of whom are women and children, returned today to the homeland and they will be transported to their homes in the areas liberated from terrorism.
Head of the Immigration and Passports Center at the crossing, Col. Mazen Ghandour mentioned in a statement to SANA that the number of people who have returned back home since the opening of Nassib crossing in last October until today has reached 12400 citizens.

Two nabbed with 6.4m meth pills in North
CHIANG RAI: Police have arrested two men with a total of 6.4 million methamphetamine pills in two separate actions in this northern province, Pol Gen Chalermkiat Srivorakhan said in a press briefing on Sunday.
Pol Gen Chalermkiat, a deputy police chief in charge of drug suppression, said that in the first action police intercepted a pick-up truck which ran a Tha Ko checkpoint in Mae Suai district on Feb 7. The driver fled, leaving 4.4 million meth pills in the truck .
Police in Wiang Pa Pao district managed to arrest the driver, Vorachart Laohang, 26, on Phrao-Wieng Pa Pao road at 10am on Sunday while he was waiting for a bus to Chiang Mai.
In the other action, police arrested Suthee Manoruang, 33, after stopping a pick-up truck he was driving at Pa Tueng checkpoint in Mae Lao district at 7.30am on Sunday and discovering 2 million meth pills in inside.

Governor Andrew Cuomo flew to Washington DC to speak with President Trump about the state’s bloated budget deficit. Cuomo was hoping the president would offer a handout to New York state to offset the $2.3 billion budget deficit this year.
Instead, President Trump lectured him on opening up the state to fracking and allowing fossil fuel pipelines to run through the state.
That makes too much sense.
