53 percent of Californians want to leave the state, according to new survey
According to a new survey by Edelman Intelligence, 53 percent of Californians are considering moving out of state due to the high cost of living. Millennials are even more likely to flee the Golden State — 63 percent of them said they want to.
Bay Area residents surveyed were especially sensitive to affordability issues, and it's no surprise. The median home value in San Francisco is $1.37 million, according to Zillow, and $1.09 million in San Jose. In Edelman's survey, 76 percent of Bay Area residents say they consider cost and availability of housing to be a serious issue.

The great Equifax mystery:
17 months later, the stolen data has never been found, and experts are starting to suspect a spy scheme
On Sept. 7, 2017, the world heard an alarming announcement from credit ratings giant Equifax: In a brazen cyberattack, somebody had stolen sensitive personal information from more than 140 million people, nearly half the population of the U.S.
It was the consumer data security scandal of the decade. The information included Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, information from credit disputes and other personal details. CEO Richard Smith stepped down under fire. Lawmakers changed credit freeze laws and instilled new regulatory oversight of credit ratings agencies.
Then, something unusual happened. The data disappeared. Completely.

School Hires Combat Vets With Rifles To ‘Put Down’ Active Shooters
A charter school in Florida has hired two combat veterans to patrol the grounds with semi-automatic rifles to protect students from any active shooters, according to officials.
Principal Bill Jones said he wants to make sure if an armed intruder were to enter the campus of Manatee School for the Arts in Palmetto, they would be met with swift, overwhelming and deadly force.
“If someone walks onto this campus, they’re going to be shot and killed,” Jones told The Bradenton Herald. “We’re not going to talk with them. We’re not going to negotiate. We are going to put them down, as quickly as possible.”

Judge orders Alex Jones to undergo up to 5-hour deposition in Sandy Hook defamation case
A Connecticut judge on Wednesday ruled Infowars host Alex Jones must go through a sworn deposition as part of a defamation lawsuit brought by families of victims in the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting.
In her order, Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis said "the court finds good cause" for the depositions of Jones and other defendants named in the case, including those essential to Infowars' business operations. Jones' deposition could last up to five hours.
Jones and his co-defendents have already been ordered to turn over financial and marketing documents related to Infowars, according to a press release. Last month, the Connecticut Supreme Court denied Jones' appeal of the decision.

Rod Rosenstein’s final insult to Congress: Farewell time for reporters but not testimony
On his way out the door from a stormy tenure at the Department of Justice (DOJ), Rod Rosenstein is talking. Just not talking to the congressional committees that he stalled when they demanded his testimony last year.
Instead, the departing deputy attorney general is giving a series of off-the-record interviews to reporters, multiple sources confirm to me.
For those not privy to the ways of the media, it means Rosenstein is telling his story to reporters in a way that can’t be attributed to him. It’s a classic tactic some politicians and bureaucrats use to shape a legacy — without leaving their public fingerprints on the story line.
