With POTUS's re election bid announced officially it makes him now a presidential candidate and any interference with him campaigning can be considered trying to influence an election (illegal).

I thought he announced early in 2017 that he was running when Soros had some protests planned, so I'm not sure. But, he is now definitely a candidate for 2020, so any interference from "actors" trying to pull some kind of darkness over his campaign could result in heavy charges levied against the conspirators.
