While Quincy Jones was busy producing the โWe Are The Worldโ remake in Los Angeles, Simon Cowell was unveiling his own Haiti charity single on radio stations. The acerbic American Idol judge corralled a few of todayโs hottest recording artists to cover REMโs 1992 classic โEverybody Hurtsโ. The single features the vocal talents of Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Susan Boyle, Miley Cyrus, Rod Stewart, Michael Buble and many more.
The single will split all proceeds 50/50 between two charities assisting in the Haiti relief. Though the single debuted on radio stations and on the internet today, the track wonโt be available to purchase until Feb. 7 online and Feb. 8 in stores.
Here are a few quotes from a few of the celebrities involved:
โIโm very honoured to be asked to contribute to the single. We can all do something to help the people of Haiti โ and I urge everyone to do what they can.โ โ Robbie Williams
โThe Haiti earthquake has caused devastation and suffering that most of us will never experience nor could imagine. I feel privileged to be a part of such a wonderful project that will raise money to help the country.โ โ Susan Boyle
โWe have a short time to do this but already we are getting some fantastic support. โRight now this is an absolute priority for us all, the people of Haiti need as much help as we can give them as soon as possible, every day the situation becomes more desperate.โ โ Simon Cowell
