REM's greatest achievement was a song about denying God, even though Stipe, the prominent Soy Boy of the 1990s, said differently back then:
Stipe told The New York Times the song was about romantic expression.[9] He told Q that "Losing My Religion" is about "someone who pines for someone else.
Such a lie. He knew exactly what he was doing with the lyrics. The song is about losing your temper with God, and the perceived conflict of free will and perfect will; the "difficult" choice of love over evil in a world where we decide how much others suffer to our benefit. Just watch the video; everyone comes away with the exactly same conclusion.
This kind of deception is what really burns me up.
