I spoke with Chicago PD sources this AM.
I’m told that investigators pretty much know #JussieSmollet perpetrated a hoax. The interrogation of the Nigerian brothers confirmed as much.
They’re applying more pressure now in the hopes that Smollett comes clean and confesses.

Does anyone go to jail for filing false police reports?
I found the answer!! Note: Filing a false police report is a crime! (720 ILCS 5/26-1(4))A person commits disorderly conduct when he/she knowingly:(4) Transmits or causes to be transmitted in any manner to any peace officer, public officer or public employee a report to the effect that an offense will be committed, is being committed, or has been committed, knowing at the time of such transmission that there is no reasonable ground for believing that such an offense will be committed, is being committed, or has been committed.
Violation of this section is a Class 4 Felony which can result in fines and/or imprisonment.
