Let me put it in a different way. There must be a cause to investigate people, who are otherwise assumed to be innocent. There was no independent cause to investigate Trump; the only cause was the manufactured "evidence" of the fake Steele dossier; manufactured at the behest and payment of the FBI. Take Trump out of the equation and put your friends into the story instead. See how they like the prospect.
