There was so much discourse rationalizing the abolishment of slavery in theological/Christian terms. The entire notion of our equality was based on us ALL being made in the image of God.

Although there's sin in everyone and no party is anywhere near perfect, the religious group of people who have authentic fear of God is the one who can be reasoned with on moral grounds. The party that does not, cannot, and only serves themselves.
