I used to be a huge R.E.M. fan and once had fond memories of seeing them live in 1989. A few years later in 1991 I brought up R.E.M.'s sudden huge success to a friend. His first response was, "Michael Stipe likes little boys." I asked if he was joking. He replied "You should see what goes on at his pool. He likes having 12-year old boys run around naked." This friend was had just returned from a stint as a chef in Atlanta and had scene connections. He had never lied to me and had no reason to fabricate such an accusation but I didn't want to believe it. I cast the idea to the wayside and continued to periodically listen to R.E.M. for the next 35 years, although his words had been permanently seared into my mind.

When PizzaGate broke, I reflected on what the friend had said. I rarely listened to their work over the next 2 years. When I saw CNN's tweet today I instantly was taken back to that night. My next thought was Q post #1871 "Those who scream the loudest…. Marching to the same beat?" MS may not have been a subject of the Q post but the facts remain unchanged. According to acquaintances and those who circulated with him, he is indeed a boy-lover.

Breaks a little part of my heart. But it's not the first time (Fck you, Debbie Harry) and the truth must be put out there. For the children. I long ago memorized many R.E.M. songs. The videos and lyrics make me sick to consider them now in the unforgiving light of truth. I lived several years with R.E.M. songs playing as the backdrop to amazing times in my life. Fck these sickos for stealing happiness. And f*ck them for stealing others' childhoods and innocence.
