This morning there is an interview with Dolly Parton about the stage adaptation of the Nine to Five film.
As an interesting aside, the BBC news reader who carried out the interview was wearing a reptile print top. (also last week BBC and Channel 4 News had a lot of purple on display).
This made me think about the message that the original Nine to Five movie shared with the world. This came out in 1980 which was a key transition point in the women's right movement. Think pre-1980, what did most married women with children do?

I'd suggest that this is a good example of how Hollywood is used to shift social norms via propaganda and a good theme tune.
