Do You Believe In The Deep State Now?

That’s a natural reaction to the revelation of Andrew G. McCabe, the former deputy FBI director, that top Justice Department officials, alarmed by Donald Trump’s firing of former Bureau director James Comey, explored a plan to invoke the 25th Amendment and kick the duly elected president out of office.

According to New York Times reporters Adam Goldman and Matthew Haag, McCabe made the statement in an NBC 60 Minutes interview to be aired on Sunday. He also reportedly said that McCabe wanted the so-called Russia collusion investigation to go after Trump for obstructing justice in firing Comey and for any instances they could turn up of his working in behalf of Russia.

The idea of invoking the 25th Amendment was discussed, it seems, at two meetings on May 16, 2017. According to McCabe, top law enforcement officials pondered how they might recruit Vice President Pence and a majority of cabinet members to declare in writing, to the Senate’s president pro tempore and the House speaker, that the president was “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.” That would be enough, under the 25th Amendment, to install the vice president as acting president, pushing aside Trump.

But to understand what kind of constitutional crisis this would unleash and the precedent it would set, it’s necessary to ponder the rest of this section of the 25th Amendment. The text prescribes that, if the president, after being removed, transmits to the same congressional figures that he is indeed capable of discharging his duties, he shall once again be president after four days. But if the vice president and the cabinet majority reiterate their declaration within those four days that the guy can’t govern, Congress is charged with deciding the issue. It then takes a two-thirds vote of both houses to keep the president removed, which would have to be done within 21 days, during which time the elected president would be sidelined and the vice president would govern. If Congress can’t muster the two-thirds majority within the prescribed time period, the president “shall resume the powers and duties of his office.”

Syrian-Lebanese talks on ensuring return of displaced Syrians

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf discussed on Monday with Lebanese State Minister for Refugee Affairs Saleh al-Gharib means of ensuring the return of the displaced Syrians in Lebanon to their homeland.

Speaking to journalists following the meeting, Makhlouf said that the Syrian state has taken all the necessary procedures for the return of the displaced to their cities and villages, in addition to securing their needs and facilitating the process of granting the necessary documents.

He indicated that both Syria and Lebanon have a common will to complete the return of all the displaced Syrians to their homeland in the upcoming period, adding that some parties which support terrorism are hindering the return of the displaced as they do not want to acknowledge the victory of the Syrian state.

For his part, al-Gharib said that the Syrian government sees that preventing the displaced Syrians from returning to their homeland is a project aimed at “undermining Syria’s victory”, pointing out the lack of accurate statistics regarding the numbers of displaced Syrians in Lebanon.

This pretty much sums up the ignorance and hatred of all the left wing MSM so-called journalists

Washington Post Editorial Board’s Executive Assistant ‘Heartbroken’ Jussie Smollett May Have Staged Attack, Says She ‘Needs it to Be True’

In an extremely dark op-ed for the Washington Post, the executive assistant for the editorial board lamented about how heartbroken she will be if Jussie Smollett wasn’t actually targeted in a hate crime.

Instead of feeling relief that maybe there isn’t as much hate out there as she thought, Nana Efua Mumford wrote about her heartbreak that maybe he wasn’t actually attacked by some evil Trump supporters in an article titled, “I doubted Jussie Smollett. It breaks my heart that I might be right.”

US Investigators Probing Years of WikiLeaks Activities

(ANTIWAR.COM) – Officially, the US government has barely conceded that there is an investigation into WikiLeaks at all. Yet after years of efforts to quietly vilify the whistleblower for its publications, the efforts to overtly criminalize the group are picking up pace.

The government has accidentally admitted to charges against Assange, at least in secret, and WikiLeaks is in the midst of a lawsuit trying to learn more.

Reports are that investigators have been pursuing leads dating back several years in their investigation of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, and the long-standing goal of charging him with serious crimes now looks to be expanding into an overall criminal investigation into WikiLeaks.

While WikiLeaks is said to believe a lot of interest is built around the 2017 Vault 7 leaks on CIA hacking tools, reporters say witnesses are also being pressed on leaks dating back to 2010.

Officials have sought to make an example of Assange for years, with some openly calling for his execution. The Obama Administration said they decided against trying to prosecute WikiLeaks as an organization because its activities are “too similar to those of the media.”

Ohio Detective Explains How Border Crisis Has Led To A Spike In Meth Overdose Deaths

Ashtabula County Detective Taylor Cleveland appeared on “Fox & Friends” Monday to explain how the current border crisis has magnified Ohio’s methamphetamine problem.

“It’s an economics problem. For years, Summit county in Akron and Ashtabula county east of Cleveland have led the state in meth labs. Traditionally that’s generally how people were producing meth in those two counties,” he said.

“And the drug cartels in Mexico seized upon that demand problem up there in those two counties and realized that they could produce meth for cheaper, ship it in using already established distribution networks and logistics networks and make a higher profit selling it cheaper in those counties
