"In The New York Times’ article reporting on Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader-Ginsburg’s return to work at the court, the paper used a stock photo of Ginsburg taken last November rather than a recent photo.

The Times reported on Ginsburg’s return to the court without any recent visual aids to expand upon her return, after she missed over a month of hearings after medical scans taken after a fall last year led to an emergency surgery to remove cancerous nodules from her lungs.

Instead, the Times used a photo dating from last November. While the photo is several months old, the New York Times did not date the photo, leading some readers to believe it was current.

Social media users uncovered the possibly deceptive use of the image, with independent content creator Jordan Sather posting to social media that the photo “was actually taken last November,” and noting that he has “still seen no current photo.”
