6 Illegal Aliens With Ties to Mexican Cartel Arrested in Drug Trafficking Investigation

Six illegal aliens with ties to a Mexican drug cartel have been arrested in a massive drug trafficking investigation.

The suspects have been identified as Oscar Rangel-Gutierrez, Francisco Garcia-Martinez, Rodolfo Martinez, Raul Rangel-Gutierrez, Regulo Rangel-Gutierrez, and Rigoberto Rangel-Gutierrez, according to court documents.

They have been accused of conspiring with each other and other persons to distribute and to possess with the intent to distribute a mixture and substance containing 500 grams (17.64 ounces) or more of methamphetamine and 5 kilograms (11 pounds) or more of cocaine. Court documents detailed how the operation included transporting such drugs across state lines, for example from Texas to Georgia and North Carolina.

Federal officials said the suspects were affiliated with the Jalisco New Generation cartel, a rival to the powerful Sinaloa cartel whose leader Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was convicted last week in a federal court in New York.

Egyptian YouTuber ignites internet firestorm after leaving Islam, denouncing ‘racism’ in it

Social media fallout has followed Shady Srour’s Facebook post where the Egyptian YouTube star announced he was leaving Islam, citing how the “racism and cruelty” of its adherents had almost led him to suicide.

“I left Islam because of racism and cruelty in the hearts of people who are supposed to believe in God but in fact, they are a bunch of insincere hypocrites,” 24-year-old Srour wrote in a post on Friday, blaming his former religion for the excessive cyberbullying which almost cost him his life late last year.

Over the weekend, the status generated over 100,000 comments and was shared across social media, with most reactions divided between staunch support and harsh opposition.

Pakistani court wants names, ages & family info of those who left Islam

A Pakistani court has ordered the citizen database to hand over a list of an estimated 10,000 people believed to have requested a change of religion. The petition is the latest move by mainstream Muslims to criminalize Qadianism.

On Monday, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), ordered Pakistan’s Citizen Authority (NADRA) provide information on residents who reportedly changed their religion from Islam to Qadianism. Qadiani, or Ahmadi Muslims are believers of a minority Islamic sect considered heretical by other, mainstream, Muslims.

The Ahmadi believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, and not Mohammed, was the last prophet chosen by Allah and insist they are Muslim with as much right to practice their faith in Pakistan as other people.

Along with providing their names, the court also directed the citizen authority to provide their ages, international travel history, and their parents’ names. In 1974 the Pakistani constitution was amended to declare Ahmadis “non-Muslims.”

In response to the ruling, the NADRA submitted a report of 10,205 persons who changed their religious status from Muslim to Ahmadi. The agency confirmed on Tuesday that 6,001 of those persons applied for a received passports stating their new religion, reports The Nation.

Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has requested additional time from the IHC to gather the necessary travel history for those 6,001 citizens. The FIA now has until next March 5 to provide the information. The court heard that several of the citizens are believed to have changed their religious status to get foreign citizenship.

A group of seven foreigners and one local were apprehended by Haitian authorities amid violent unrest in the nation. The suspects, who allegedly have military backgrounds, were equipped with an arsenal of guns and even drones.

The group was apprehended on Sunday in the Haitian capital city of Port-au-Prince, shortly after leaving the Bank of Haiti, local newspaper Le Nouvelliste reported.

The suspects, traveling in two vehicles without license plates, were well-equipped with military-grade weapons, body armor and even drones. They had several sets of plates with them, but it was unclear if they were genuine or fake. The individuals initially refused to leave their vehicles, reportedly claiming they had been working “for the Haitian government.”

FL school hires combat vets with semi-auto RDB bullpups as armed guards

By month’s end, one Florida charter school will employ armed guards on grounds to protect the students and staff.

Two combat veterans dressed in protective gear, each packing a 9mm Glock handgun and a semiautomatic Keltec RDB bullpup rifle with a 17-inch barrel, will patrol the Manatee School for the Arts in Palmetto, Fla., the New York Times reported.

The school’s principal, Dr. Bill Jones, said, “If an armed intruder were to enter the campus, we’re not looking for a fair fight. We’re looking at an overwhelming advantage.”

He added, “I don’t want this to be the first time they’ve had someone shooting at them. It’s just a much more effective weapon than the handgun is.”

VA official to serve 11 years in prison for misusing $2M, accepting bribes

A former U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) official was sentenced Friday to 132 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release, and restitution to the VA in the sum of $155,000.

James King, 63, of Baltimore, Md. previously pleaded guilty to one count of honest services and money/property wire fraud, one count of bribery of a public official, and one count of falsifying records to obstruct an investigation, according to the Justice Department.

King admitted to demanding and receiving bribes from three for-profit schools in exchange for enrolling disabled military veterans in those schools and facilitating over $2 million in payments from the VA using the veterans’ federal benefits.

U.S. District Judge John D. Bates of the District of Columbia passed King’s sentencing. Just days earlier, he sentenced three school owners and employees who admitted to bribing King.

Albert Poawui, the owner of Atius Technology Institute, was sentenced to serve 70 months in prison and ordered to pay $1.5 million in restitution. Sombo Kanneh, Poawui’s employee, was sentenced to serve 20 months in prison and ordered to pay $113,000 in restitution. Michelle Stevens, the owner of Eelon Training Academy, was sentenced to serve 30 months in prison and ordered to pay $83,000 in restitution.

Claim: Amazon Has ‘No Limit’ On How It Can Listen To And Store Private Conversations

Sean Parker, founding president of Facebook, worries more about Amazon violating your privacy than Facebook.

Parker said on Wednesday there is “no limit” to how Amazon is storing and listening to private conversations, adding that these recordings “could potentially be used against you in a court of law or for other purposes.”

“If you’re having a conversation in front of an Alexa-enabled device, Amazon is not guaranteeing you any privacy,” Parker said in a discussion on stage with CNBC’s Hadley Gamble at the Milken Institute MENA Summit.

Amazon came under fire last year when an Echo device reportedly secretly recorded a family’s conversation and sent it to a random person. Amazon blamed the incident on Alexa misinterpreting a set of commands.
