Russia bans military from using smartphones

Russian legislators have adopted a new bill banning servicemen from using electronic devises capable of taking photos, videos, and collecting geolocation data – basically, all modern portable gadgets.

The bill, approved by the State Duma in the final reading on Tuesday, forbids active-duty servicemen and reservists during training from sharing on the internet or with the media any information which might disclose their location, which units they serve with, information about fellow soldiers, and so on. Apart from that, servicemen are banned from even having on themselves devices that can store and/or transmit photos, videos, and geolocation data through the internet.

The sponsors of the bill explained the need for it with an obvious observation – that military members present a special interest for foreign intelligence services and terrorist groups. Therefore, sharing personal data while on duty might be dangerous for both soldier and the entire nation alike

Mongolia may shut down all KFC restaurants after hundreds of food poisoning reports

Outlets of American fast food giant KFC could be suspended in Mongolia pending inquiries after 247 people reported symptoms of poisoning, such as diarrhea and vomiting after visiting one of its restaurants.

The incident happened at one of the fast food chain’s outlets in Ulaanbaatar last week because of the contaminated water supply, according to the city's Metropolitan Professional Inspection Agency.

“We will carry out inspections for the other KFC branches from February 18-21 and suspend their operations when we do the inspections,” the official said, as quoted by Reuters.

The agency had previously warned that it had called for the closure of all local KFC restaurants. Owned by Kentucky-based Yum! Brands, KFC has 11 outlets in Mongolia, all of them located in the capital, the company’s website says.

All the outlets, apart from the one where the incident occurred, are currently open for business, according to general manager of KFC Mongolia, Ganbat Danzanbaatar.

The company’s restaurants in Mongolia are operated by local conglomerate Tavan Bogd Group via a franchise cooperation. The company apologized for the incident, saying it had happened due to weak internal quality checks and poor implementation of daily standards and rules.

Hungarian 'Conspiracy Theory' Over Soros, Juncker 'Beggars Belief' - EU

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The new campaign of the Hungarian government targeting the European Commission's President Jean-Claude Juncker and Brussels' migration policy promotes falsehoods, the European Commission said Tuesday.

This comes after a campaign poster with images of Juncker and Hungarian-born billionaire George Soros was posted on the Hungarian government's Facebook page on Monday.

The government's post reportedly suggested that Brussels wanted to simplify immigration, impose mandatory resettlement quotas, weaken members states' right to border protection.

The Hungarian authorities have clashed with Soros in the past. Last year, Soros' Open Society Foundations took Budapest to court over the so-called Stop Soros legislation, which targets those supporting or promoting illegal migration, including non-governmental organizations

ISIS holds last few hundred yards of territory in eastern Euphrates region

BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have seized almost all of the Islamic State’s (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) eastern Euphrates pocket after several weeks of intense fighting.

However, the last few hundred yards of ISIS-occupied territory is proving incredibly difficult to penetrate as several terrorists refuse to surrender their positions to the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces.

While a prisoner exchange was finally conducted on Monday, the two sides are preparing for another round of clashes in the eastern part of the Euphrates River Valley.

With virtually nowhere to retreat, these last Islamic State terrorists may choose to make the dangerous attempt to evade the SDF troops and cross into Iraq’s Al-Anbar Governorate.
