An aide to a US congressman from Louisiana was busted in a prostitution sting over the weekend, according to several local reports.

Jerod Prunty, 47, who works for Rep. Clay Higgins, was charged with two counts of pandering in Lafayette Parish on Saturday, the Daily Advertiser reported.

Prunty was caught up in a sweep of a number of massage parlors and three houses, which were allegedly being used as brothels, police officials said at a press conference.

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of allegations against Jerod. His arrest is deeply troubling,” a spokesman for Higgins told the Daily Advertiser in a statement.

The prostitution sting was a result of a months-long investigation, which started after complaints from local residents and neighbors.

Police arrested seven women and two men as involved in prostitution.

WASHINGTON – The Trump administration is facing another lawsuit over the president's emergency declaration to build a border wall.

The American Civil Liberties Union said in a lawsuit filed Tuesday in U.S. court in San Francisco that there is no emergency to justify the president's action. It accuses President Donald Trump and other members of his administration of violating Constitutional limits on their authority.

California and 15 other states have also sued Trump on similar grounds.

DNC Fires first shot at BERNIE

https://us.cnn.com/2019/02/19/politics/dnc-candidate-affirmation/index.html

The Democratic National Committee plans to meet with 2020 campaigns next week to hand out an "affirmation form" for candidates to sign and certify they will run and serve as members of the Democratic Party, a DNC official said Tuesday.

The announcement follows Bernie Sanders' entry into the 2020 campaign earlier Tuesday — his second consecutive presidential election. An independent who caucuses with Democrats in the Senate, Sanders rankled some Democrats in 2016 when he ran for the nomination even though he wasn't an official member of the party.

DNC members passed a new rule last August, which was seen as a response to the Sanders campaign, requiring all candidates "to affirm in writing" that they "are a member of the Democratic Party, will accept the Democratic nomination; will run and serve as a member of the Democratic Party."

According to the DNC, all the campaigns who have announced have been invited to the meeting. Once they receive the form, they will have a week to return it to the DNC.
