There existed some 15-20 thousand years ago a great civilization not more advanced than ours who was suppose to have been struck by a comet. This comet eliminated conscious entities en masse. Some time later, consciousness again sprouted and certain men chose to bear the torch and focus on maintaining continuity (as they would have explained it). These people hid the truth from the world, and with it its deep and insightful secrets.
Some time later, they became enchanted by the use of symbolism. This symbolism inspired a telling of stories that have transpired in such a way that we understand today as "origin stories". In some of these stories, there is deeply embedded truth.
One day you'll see past the lies and realize that certain strings have been pulled by certain people who bore good consciences.
