FBI Official Admits To Infiltrating Trump Campaign - Just Don't Call It Spying

A top FBI official admitted to Congressional investigators last year that the agency had contacts within the Trump campaign as part of operation "Crossfire Hurricane," which sounds a lot like FBI "informant" Stefan Halper - a former Oxford University professor who was paid over $1 million by the Obama Department of Defense between 2012 and 2018, with nearly half of it surrounding the 2016 US election.

According to portions of transcripts published on Tuesday by the Epoch Times of a Aug. 31, 2018 deposition by Trisha Anderson, the FBI relied on sources who "already had campaign contacts" in order to surveil the Trump team.

"To my knowledge, the FBI did not place anybody within a campaign but, rather, relied upon its network of sources, some of whom already had campaign contacts, including the source that has been discussed in the media at some length beyond Christopher Steele," said Anderson - who was the #2 attorney at the FBI's Office of General Counsel, and had extensive involvement with the Trump counterintelligence investigation.

Halper is reportedly a longtime CIA and FBI informant, and has been involved in US politics at the highest levels for decades, becoming George H.W. Bush's National Director for Policy Development during his presidential campaign. After Bush lost to Reagan, Halper worked as Reagan's Deputy Assistant Secretary of State - where he served under three different Secretaries.

Venezuela closes border with Brazil, may do the same at Colombia border – Maduro

Starting Thursday evening, Venezuela is closing its border with Brazil, President Nicolas Maduro has announced. He added the same measure may apply to the border with Colombia, though he does not want to order it.

The Venezuelan military was ordered to enforce the travel ban in airspace and on the sea until further notice, Maduro said during a televised address from a military headquarters.

Speaking about possible cut of border travel with Colombia, Maduro said he didn’t want to take such a decision but was considering it.

The restrictions come amid a tense stand-off over US attempts to deliver what Washington describes as humanitarian aid into Venezuela in defiance of the wishes of its government. The US considers Maduro usurper and recognizes as the head of state the self-proclaimed acting president Juan Guaido, whose opposition group is the designated receiver of the ‘aid’.

Earlier on Thursday Guaido said he will personally go to the border with Colombia to get the shipment from the US, urging drivers to go with him and defy the border guards ordered to prevent the delivery.

#YouTubeWakeUp: Who Cares About the Child Exploitation Crisis on YouTube?

Regular readers of The Goldwater recall us covering (for years now) YouTube's complicity in child exploitation. A recent viral video exposing this, however, has finally made this problem too large for even Youtube to ignore. Some of their advertisers now find themselves embroiled in quite a mess. When we covered the convicted rapist and pedophile who ran the SevenAwesomeKids network of channels, we detailed how some models were earning $20,000 per month - envelope-pushing, borderline softcore child pornography is big business at YouTube. Several million users subscribe to the channels in the SSG network.

YouTuber MattsWhatItIs made a list of advertisers whose videos aired amidst questionable material related to young girls. Many of these videos are flanked by a toxic cesspool of a comment section (complete with timestamps) ogling risque images of

China bans Australian coal imports as diplomatic tensions over Huawei intensify

One of China’s biggest ports has put restrictions on shipments of coal from Australia, its top supplier of anthracite, casting a shadow upon Australia’s second largest export earner.

The Port of Dalian is set to cap overall coal imports from all sources at 12 million tons until the end of 2019, according to an official at Dalian Port Group, operator of the sea transportation hub, as quoted by Reuters.

The indefinite ban on Australian coal imports came into effect starting February with the biggest ports across China reportedly extending clearing times for coal shipments from the country to at least 40 days.

Dalian customs currently oversees five harbors, including Dalian, Bayuquan, Panjin, Dandong and Beiliang. The body reportedly won’t allow Australian coal to clear through customs, while imports of coal from Russia and Indonesia are not going to be affected, according to the official.

Chinese customs are checking and testing coal imports for safety and quality, according to Geng Shuang, a spokesman at China’s foreign ministry.

The Australian dollar slid as much as 1.1 percent against its US counterpart on the news.

“The goals are to better safeguard the legal rights and interests of Chinese importers and to protect the environment,” he told journalists, when asked if the ban was tied to tensions between Beijing and Canberra.

Donald Trump Calls for American Dominance in 5G Wireless Technology

President Donald Trump utilized Twitter on Thursday to urge American companies to move forward in the race for 5G wireless technology.

“I want 5G, and even 6G, technology in the United States as soon as possible,” Trump wrote. “It is far more powerful, faster, and smarter than the current standard. American companies must step up their efforts, or get left behind.”

Trump commented on the emerging technology after Sen. Marco Rubio told Breitbart News in an interview that it was essential to the future of American dominance of the digital economy.

“The reason why 5G is so critical is that a large number of the technologies and industry in the 21st century will be dependent on 5G: smart roads, driverless vehicles, the Internet of things, additive manufacturing where you can make things through 3D printing,” Rubio said.

Trump, it appears, agreed.

“There is no reason that we should be lagging behind on something that is so obviously the future,” he wrote. “I want the United States to win through competition, not by blocking out currently more advanced technologies.”

Rubio expressed concern that China was positioning itself as the leader in 5G technology by forcing its way into the market with government-backed companies offering cheaper infrastructure.

“If the Chinese are the ones who set that standard, they will give preference to their companies as the ones who dominate in these fields, so not only will they dominate 5G, but they will dominate all of the industries associated with it independent of 5G, and what do they bring to bear?” he asked.

Trump said the United States must continue to lead the way in the 5G race.

“We must always be the leader in everything we do, especially when it comes to the very exciting world of technology!” he said:

Spain: Unprecedented political rise in nationalism is taking place due to immigration

While hundreds of immigrants arrive every single day to Spain, the polls reflect nationalism everyday is taking a greater relevance in its politics.

Only in the first half of January more than 2900 immigrants arrived to the Spanish coasts and more than 65.000 did it the last year, this number is even greater than the sum of immigrants arrived to Spain in the three previous years and a 289 per cent more than in the year 2016.

This is paradigmatic with the situation on Spain, where despite immigrants represent only a 12,75 per cent of the population, they are overrepresented in many crime statistics, making, for example, the 38,3 per cent of those responsibles for gender violence related deaths. It´s important to mention the statistics many times hide the actual number of crimes committed by people with foreign origin by counting those with Spanish nationality as Spanish.

This situation has produced the rise on the nationalism, reflected on the surveys mainly with the rise of Vox (a young conservative and nationalist party), which proposes laws such as deporting all illegal immigrants and the legal ones who have committed some crime or the closing of mosques that promote a fundamentalist Islam.

At the beginning of summer of 2018 this political party didn´t arrive to the 2 per cent of expected votes on the next Spanish elections, now the party accountsnts for an 11,2 percent of them. Vox is expected to continue growing while the rest of main political parties keep loosing voters.

Immigration Authorities in Southern Mexico Attacked by Migrant Caravan

Mexican immigration authorities were attacked by members of a new Central American caravan which illegally crossed from Guatemala on Monday. The group of at least 500 pelted officials with rocks, causing damage to vehicles and minor injuries at a roadblock.

Mexican immigration officials (INAMI) in Chiapas attempted to turn back a caravan which arrived approximately a week ago at Guatemala’s southern border with Mexico. The group was growing daily and demanded passage via international border bridge in Suchiate, according to local reporting. The group was told by Mexican officials that the issuance of one-year humanitarian visas was suspended and migrants would need to return to their countries of origin to contact Mexican consulates, according to another report. The migrants were reportedly warned that those who crossed traveled without proper documentation would be deported. Two smaller migrant groups of 150 and 200 were recently rounded up by INAMI and Federal Police.

After several days on the Guatemalan border, the migrants forced their way across the international bridge into Mexico and traveled on foot to Ciudad Hidalgo and then Tapachula. After passing through Tapachula while heading north for approximately three hours, the group came upon 30 INAMI agents and Federal Police at a blocked roadway.

Mexican INAMI agents initially attempted to talk the migrants into surrendering, but they refused. Several members of the group then turned to violence and were able to break the blockade by forcing officials to retreat after throwing rocks. Breitbart News obtained cell phone video footage of the incident.

Why S-300 In Syria Not Being Used Against Israeli Aircraft

There has been considerable speculation in recent months concerning reasons why the S-300 air defense systems supplied to the Syrian Arab Army by the Russian Federation have yet to fire a shot in anger at Israeli aircraft encroaching on its airspace and launching ordnance against a variety of targets on Syria’s territory. This video attempts to explore a reasonably complete range of explanations. On the one hand, the S-300 batteries in Syria operate under a handicap of operational and political restrictions. However, it would be a mistake to believe that just because missiles are not being launched, that the weapons in question are ineffective.

Israel’s Human Shields

One crucial aspect of Israeli aerial operations is their use of civilian air traffic and also US-led coalition operations to shield their aircraft against Syrian air defenses. It is noteworthy that Russian cruise missile strikes, for example, are invariably preceded by international notifications and closures of relevant airspace in order to prevent tragedies. Israel has not followed similar procedures and has frequently sent its combat aircraft into airspace used by civilian airliners over the Mediterranean and Lebanon. Considering the “international reaction” that would have inevitably followed in the event of a Syrian or Russian air defense shoot-down of a civilian airliner, it is rather likely that rules of engagement

used by the Russia-led coalition forces in Syria include strict prohibitions against engaging hostile aircraft when there is even a remote danger to civilian aircraft. The loss of Russian Il-20 with its entire crew to a Syrian air defense missile clearly shows the dangers of engaging remote targets in a crowded airspace.

The Lebanese Doormat

Few examples illustrate the hypocrisy of Western powers’ supposed belief in the sanctity of national sovereignty better than its condoning of near-constant Israeli violations of Lebanese airspace. While that country’s territorial sovereignty is rarely challenged by Israel largely thanks to Hezbollah’s ability to inflict severe casualties on the IDF, neither Hezbollah nor the Lebanese military possess an air force or an air defense system capable of doing the same for the country’s airspace. This allows Israeli aircraft to use Lebanon’s terrain features, specifically the mountain ranges flanking the Bekaa Valley, as a shield against long-range air defense systems. Israeli aircraft using stand-off munitions such as the SDB or Delilah are able to position themselves close to their targets by flying below the Syrian radar horizon, then popping up to launch their GPS-guided weapons before dropping down below the horizon to return to base. In order to deny Israel that ability, Syria and Russia would have to extend their air defense network to the Bekaa Valley and/or patrol it using their own fighter aircraft, a measure that would likely provoke “international condemnation” and risk a massive escalation of the conflict. By the same token, the “international community” has imposed a de-facto embargo on the provision of modern weapons systems of any kind to the state of Lebanon, rendering it unable to defend itself against Israeli incursions.

Central Bank deputy chairman likens forex services to financial pyramids

In his opinion, the majority of forex services users are not very financially literate people with low incomes

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Central Bank Vladimir Chistyukhin believes that forex services, despite the fact that they are legally regulated, are similar to pyramid schemes, as most users of these services lose money, he said in an interview with TASS.

"To me personally, forex services, despite the fact that they are legally regulated, to some extent resemble financial pyramids that attract people, who want to make quick money and do not weigh the risks," he said.

Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank noted that he had never used such services, since he considers the risks too high. "For me, this is impossible - I believe that the level of risk that forex clubs offer is not comparable with the potential gain. Statistics shows that no matter what kind of foresight you have, and no matter how well you understand the financial market, your account would reach zero. Some people might leave, having earned a little, but the majority are losing money," Chistyukhin said.

In his opinion, the majority of forex services users are not very financially literate people with low incomes. According to Chistyukhin, the number of active clients of licensed forex dealers in the Russian Federation does not exceed 9,000-10,000 people.

On December 27, the Russian Central Bank revoked licenses of five largest Russian forex dealers - Forex Club, Fix Trade, Trustforex, Alpari Forex and Teletrade Group. Licenses are revoked starting from January 27, 2019.

At the same time, the Central Bank canceled qualification certificates of supervisors and general directors of these companies.

Thus, the Central Bank revoked licenses of five out of the nine Russian forex dealers. Alfa-forex, VTB-forex, PSB-forex and Finam-forex remained on the market.

Head of the Securities Market and Commodity Market Department Larisa Selyutina said that activities of the five forex dealers, whose licenses were revoked by the Russian Central Bank, were focused on aggressive advertising and withdrawing Russian clients to foreign jurisdictions. "All companies whose licenses have been revoked are ‘subsidiaries’ of large foreign forex dealers with recognizable brands, operating mainly in foreign forex markets. The decision to revoke is connected with the regulator’s deep concern for enormous risks for Russian citizens from the companies’ activities," she said.

Poll: 75% of Americans Oppose Outlawing Boycotts of Israel

Americans in general do not like anti-BDS laws nearly as much as Congress does: just 22.5% of American adults polled favor anti-boycott measure. But Washington and many state legislatures are pushing through legislation that would criminalize boycott of Israel.

by Grant Smith, antiwar.com

New legislation passed in the Senate seeks to legalize the right of individual state governments to force American companies to certify they won’t engage in economic boycotts of Israel as a condition for receiving government contracts.

The “Combating BDS Act of 2019” is embedded as Title IV within the ‘‘Strengthening America’s Security in the Middle East Act of 2019’’ (S.1). If signed into law, S.1 would allow states to withhold government funding from entities unwilling to certify they will not boycott Israel. Most existing state anti-BDS measures require pledge forms that contractors must sign as a condition for winning or renewing contracts.

But only 22.5% of American adults favor anti-boycott measures. A new representative IRmep poll conducted through Google Surveys finds that 74.9% of Americans oppose forcing government contractors to forswear boycotts.

Question: Should Congress force American businesses seeking government contracts to first sign a pledge that they won’t boycott Israel for its human rights record and military occupation?
