My wife is pregnant with our first child. We rent a house that has 100% fake wood vinyl flooring. What can we do to limit her exposure to the chemicals and limit our future child's exposure until we can get a new house? Are the chemicals transferring through the skin by contacting the floors with bare hands and feet or is it just radiating into people? I want to do what I can to protect my family.

We have two large area rugs, one in each living room and one runner through a hallway and I have a rug in my office but they're all cheap rugs, nothing very fancy. One was a hand-down from my sister, that one is the nicest of them all. I'll talk to her about everything tonight and see if we start wearing shoes inside more. I work from home so I am around these vinyl floors 24 hours a day…..

Thanks for the tips. We are around 1 year or 1 and a half years from being able to move from this house we rent and in to another. Our goal is to put a down payment on (an older house) sometime after our baby is born.
