I, myself, am in the 97th percentile … and I have never yet been the smartest guy in the room here. Not once. Let that sink in. Stop being a female and become a mentat. (Look it up if you must. Think "Frank Herbert".)

Quick synopsis of judge's ruling in Epstein case in Miami federal court:

The case concerned an alleged violation of the Crime Victims Rights Act (CVRA). At bottom, there were two victims who alleged that the U.S. Government, through the U.S. Attorney's Office in Miami (Acosta), violated the notice requirements in the CVRA that required the government to provide notification to the victims regarding the prosecution or non-prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein. The court's decision leaves untouched the underlying decision not to prosecute. The court ordered the government and the victims to meet with each other to come up with some sort of resolution, or to present the court with their arguments for what that resolution should be. Long story short, the decisions shows that the government broke the law not in the way the Epstein case itself was handled, but in how the government treated the victims.

My opinion:

My best guess is there could be some compensation, but it isn't clear the government could be compelled to pay anything, because I'm not sure how the victims could an entitlement to financial compensation. I think they are entitled to injunctive relief or a declaration from the court, but that might be it. Still, the government could settle and make payments.

Why would the government not notify the victims properly regarding the Epstein non-prosecution agreement or NPA? Because the government knew the victims would raise holy hell. So they sat on it as long as possible. This case was pending for more than TEN YEARS.

This case is a microcosm of how our system works. EVEN WHEN YOU CAN PROVE THE GOVERNMENT BROKE THE LAW, they will wait you out and delay, delay, delay.
