So i was thinking about this the other day….. Technically he can be charged with performing a hate crime. Because he executed a hate crime against himself which would against a "minority" on the basis of race.

Therefore it would be rather amusing if he was charged with a hate crime against himself.

I agree, at the same time there was the anti-lynching bill…. The intent was to build enough public outrage that they could get the support even though there has not been a provable "lynching" in many years.

Now with the LT we have multiple potential targets. The 2nd-ers, assault weapons, and the "MAGAs"…. Notice that his list all contains the major voices in todays liberal party. Its also meant to cause outrage.

Rewind back to 2017 with Las Vegas, it was meant to cause outrage to ban assault weapons and bump stocks…. they eventually banned the bump stocks… but didnt quite hit their target. No pun intended.

This is the DS MO. Cause outrage with a public event, all the while pushing laws and bills in the shadows.

Your argument may have merit. But in a politically charged world, those types of things will be used to describe the movement as a far-right "fascist", nazi, anti-semetic, blah blah blah group. Fully turning off many people you would want to reach.
