Chinese Jet Shows X-Ray Vision System Only Seen on US Jets

After months of complaints by the US administration that China is stealing intellectual property from companies in the United States, a picture of a Chinese fighter jet has been publicized on social media featuring key technology systems developed for the American F-35.

Critics have previously noted that the Chengdu J-20 is all but a mirror copy of Lockheed Martin's F-22, an air superiority aircraft that is no longer in production. According to a report by the Washington Times, an anonymous user recently posted new images of the J-20 on Chinese military websites showing two key technologies that have long been touted as unique features of US fighter aircraft.

One of the technologies that apparently originated in the United States was the Distributed Aperture System (DAS), which is supposed to be one of the F-35's most important sensors (the aircraft itself is often colloquially described as a flying computer). DAS has been billed by advocates as a revolutionary capability allowing a pilot to see exactly what's going on 360 degrees around the aircraft — all but eliminating blind spots.

If you've ever read a report saying that the F-35 helmet lets the pilot see through the bottom of the aircraft, that functionality is made possible by DAS, Defense News notes. If the latest images suggest anything, now the Chengdu J-20 has a comparable DAS functionality as well.

"The camera lens with a relatively large optical aperture in the nose comes with a reddish-purple plating/coasting," says the posting on the China-based Chaoji Da Benying website, as reported by the Washington Times. The post, which included four pictures of the J-20 with what looks like a fresh coat of paint, noted that "it very much resembles the F-35's AN/AAQ-3 7 DAS."

The F-35's DAS, however, has been one of the driving factors behind why the jet has a low availability rate to conduct missions, Breaking Defense reported in June 2018.

If Bernie Sanders is a socialist, how does he own 3 houses?

Lifestyles of the rich and socialist: Bernie Sanders has 3 houses, makes millions

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., entered the 2020 presidential race this week promising to transform America with a left-wing vision of economic and environmental justice. But the self-described democratic socialist’s high-end income, multiple houses and fondness for air travel have already opened him up to criticism that his lifestyle doesn’t always match the rhetoric.

Sanders has pitched himself as a grassroots economic populist, focusing on income inequality and higher taxes for the rich.

“Our campaign is about transforming our country and creating a government based on the principles of economic, social, racial and environmental justice,” he said. “Together you and I and our 2016 campaign began the political revoution,” he said. “Now it is time to complete that revolution and implement the vision that we fought for.”

This single family house built on 1981 and located in Burlington, Vermont, is listed to Bernard and Jane Sanders. (Google Maps)

But Sanders has raised eyebrows over his spending and personal wealth. Notably, he owns three houses. In 2016, he bought a $575,000 four-bedroom lake-front home in his home state. This is in addition to a row house in Washington D.C., as well as a house in Burlington, Vermont.

“The Bern will keep his home in Burlington and use the new camp seasonally,” Vermont’s Seven Day’s reported in 2016.

Federal judge dismisses climate change lawsuit against Trump administration

Judge rules that the court does not have 'the authority to direct national environmental policy'

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought by two Pennsylvania boys and an environmental group against the Trump administration, Reuters reported. The lawsuit claimed that the federal government had violated the plaintiffs' constitutional rights by rolling back environmental regulations related to climate change.

U.S. District Judge Paul Diamond in Philadelphia ruled that the court doesn't have "the authority to direct national environmental policy."

The lawsuit, Clean Air Council v. United States, was filed in November 2017 when the two boys were 7 and 11.

The lawsuit alleged that the younger boy "suffers from severe allergies" that are "directly impacted by the climate" and the older boy "experiences anxiety" about climate change and suffers from asthma that "is exacerbated by climate change."

Diamond said that the Constitution does not guarantee "life-sustaining climate system," which the Clean Air Council claimed was a due process violation.

"Plaintiffs' disagreement with defendants is a policy debate best left to the political process," Diamond wrote in his ruling. "Because I have neither the authority nor the inclination to assume control of the Executive Branch, I will grant defendants' motion."

The judge dismissed the complaint on grounds that it lacked standing to sue the federal government.

What did the Clean Air Council say?

Joseph Minott, executive director of the Clean Air Council, said the organization would be reviewing its next steps with its lawyers, according to Climate Liability News.

The Trump administration continues to rely on junk science to implement reckless climate change policies in the face of indisputable U.S. and international scientific consensus. For decades, the U.S. government has acknowledged that climate change presents a clear and present danger to life, and represents an urgent and potentially irreversible threat to human societies and the planet. These acts of deliberate indifference are increasing U.S. contributions to climate change, thereby increasing the frequency and intensity of its life-threatening effects, and violating our constitutional rights.

"We are troubled that the opinion states the federal government 'do[es] not produce greenhouse gases' and that 'climate change is the creation of those that pollute the air, not the Government,'" Minott added. "These statements are both irrelevant to our claims and factually incorrect."

FLASHBACK: ADL Said Jussie Smollett Attack Showed ‘Homophobia and Racism that Plagues our Society’

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) claimed last month that the reported “hate crime” against Hollywood actor Jussie Smollett was “a disturbing reminder of the terrible homophobia and racism that plagues our society.”

n a statement, ADL president Jonathan Greenblatt said: “We call on police to investigate this vile incident as a hate crime and work swiftly to bring the alleged perpetrators to justice.”

On Thursday, Smollett surrendered to Chicago police to face a felony charge of filing a false police report. He is believed to have staged the attack.

Chicago police superintendent Eddie Johnson, who is black, blasted Smollett for taking “advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career,” adding: “Celebrities, news commentators and even presidential candidates weighed in on something that was choreographed by an actor.”

Neither the ADL nor Greenblatt have responded since Smollett’s arrest.

Under Greenblatt, a former Obama administration official, the ADL has led the charge in painting a portrait of an America consumed by rising bigotry since President Donald Trump’s election.

Even after a spate of hundreds of hoax bomb threat were shown to have been carried out by a disturbed Jewish American teenager in Israel and a left-wing journalist, the ADL still included the threats in its 2017 “audit” of antisemitic incidents in the U.S.

Without the hoax threats, the reported increase in antisemitic incidents was far more modest. The number of physical assaults against Jews dropped by almost half.
