This was because the money changers were ripping the Jews off at the temple in the exchange rate. So Jews in other areas of the Med sea would sell a sheep take the money to Jerusalem since it was easier to buy one in Jerusalem then carry it all over the Med sea area. So the money changers would rip off the jews. This is why Christ turned over the tables.
