Don't forget, anon. Kamala Harris's grandfather was a prolific and famous slaveowner and trader.
Dennis Harris has written about this.
According to Jamaica Global Online, Kamala Harris has one very significant connection to Jamaica. In an essay written by her father, Donald Harris, readers get a unique insight into the Harris family background. The Harris family roots go back all the way to Hamilton Brown, who is famously known as the founder of Brown’s Town in Jamaica, by way of paternal grandmother Christiana Brown, descendant of Hamilton Brown.
Hamilton Brown, according to Wikipedia, was an Irish sugar planter, attorney, and slave-owner in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, which he represented in the House of Assembly of Jamaica for 22 years. He gave his name to Hamilton Town in Saint Ann Parish, now known as Brown’s Town, which he founded. He once argued that “Jamaican slaves were better off than the poor of England and [therefore] the British government should not interfere with the way the Jamaican planters managed their slaves.” Witnesses claim to have seen harsh and arbitrary whipping of slaves at the plantations owned by Brown. You can read more about Mr. Brown’s slavery transactions here, including how many slaves Mr. Brown was responsible for. You can see their names, ages, and genders listed here.
After slavery became outlawed by the British Crown, Mr. Hamilton Brown cleverly found yet another way to force his fellow man to work under unacceptable conditions. Mr. Brown, as a native Irishman, traveled back to his homeland of Ireland in order to entice the Irish poor to travel by sea to Jamaica in order to “work” for Mr. Brown. This is detailed in many publications, including this one (“Limerick Slaves for Jamaica”) available for free online.
