Michael Avenatti, a well known attorney who said he recently provided a videotape of R. Kelly having sex with a 14-year-old girl to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, applauded prosecutors for filing charges. It is unclear if the charges are related to the videotape the attorney provided.
“The day of reckoning has arrived” for R Kelly, Avenatti said in a tweet.
Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx was planning to hold a news conference on the charges at 2 p.m. Friday.

Meanwhile, disgraced television lawyer Michael Avenatti claimed Friday he has evidence that R. Kelly and his “enablers” paid witnesses and others to “rig” the outcome of the R&B star’s 2008 trial, when he was acquitted on child pornography charges. Kelly has denied allegations of sexual misconduct involving women and underage girls for years.
Avenatti said last week he gave the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office a videotape he says shows Kelly having sex with an underage girl.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The gender equality initiative Time’s Up says its president and CEO resigned because of sexual misconduct allegations against her son.
The group on Friday issued a statement explaining why Lisa Borders stepped down from the organization that was formed last year in response to sexual misconduct allegations in Hollywood. On Monday, Borders cited family issues but did not elaborate.
