Yes, the US gov has many patents, but they are not worth shit unless someone licenses the patent, and then takes the invention to market. All it really means is that US tax dollars (NIH funded research) were used to make the discovery and then the investigators filled a patent to protect the intellectual property. People license US patents all the time. For example, Kevin Costner licensed that US technology to cleanup oil spills.
I am not suggesting that cannabis is not USEFUL medicinally or otherwise. In fact, its prohibition is probably what keeps the whole fukking medical establishment edifice propped up. How? Because it keeps everyone focused on the injustice of banning this one miracle plant while we remain blind to the many others (eg willow) that we still have access to.
For example, I told a friend of mine years ago who wanted to get off pain pills that he should try weening himself off using Kratom like I did. He dismissed it outright because it was "legal." So a couple of months ago, he texted me,
"Hey man, they are talking about banning Kratom, so I went ahead and bought some." !!!!!!
So, I'm like DUDE!, You want believe me, your friend, but you will believe the fukking FDA/DEA.
