I recently gained a pen pal from Venezuela. I asked him if I could print part of his letter here. He agreed. So I want to share his words with all of you.

He writes:

About your request about Venezuela situation, I can say that all your heard o see on news is shorter that we're living here in Venezuela…. Money Wothless… Monthly salary are equivalent 7US$, my salary as Budget Manager are only 19US$…. Food is few… You eat that you find, not you desire…Few food that you find is very very expensive…. Poor search in trash cans something to eat.. No medicine in hospitals, even in private hospital… Many dangerous in streets, police doesn't recomend travel at nights, because many thefts in roads… Last year I have to spend 6 months out of Venezuela to work and save some money and help my family

We're things better when Hugo Chavez was in control?

Hugo Chavez is the Author and responsible that tragedy that we're living today… He arrives as president, and start to corrupt all instance.. He leave militaries works with guerrillas and drugs, He corrupt all powers, legal, legislative, and electoral…. He expropiated productive factories that today are broken…. He leave many people stole the public money and don't invest— he had luck that enjoys high petroleum prices, and that don't produce here, he can buy in other countries, and help to many people made rich in a fraudulent way.

What do you think of Donald Trump?

Well, we heard many bad things about Trump, but I don't know how is situation in USA, and his politics afect to people in USA, I was there, and notice that thing going normal, even to inmigrant, so I could not give you a realistic opinion about Trump, not living in USA:…. But, be Trump a good or bad President o person, is the only that rise his voice to try help in our tragedy, Not Bush, Not Obama, Not other country President…, I don't know if there a political or economic interest in that, but today, many venezuela people thank to Trump, the fight against dictators….. Today people see a hope that this nightmare ends after 20 years.
