Treasure Coast law enforcement agencies are still unraveling how a series of day spas are tied to an international human trafficking operation accused of soliciting prostitution and potentially luring vulnerable women to participate in sex acts.
The criminal probe reached from Orlando through the Treasure Coast to Palm Beach County.
The human trafficking ring has connections to China and New York, said Martin County Sheriff William Snyder.
Chief Assistant State Attorney Tom Bakkedahl said investigators are questioning people who have elected to cooperate with authorities.
“There are decisions we’ll have to make in regard to the appropriate charges,” he said. “We need to determine who is a victim and who isn’t. Those are things we’ll determine as we continue with the investigation.”

MARTIN COUNTY — Several spas and two women were identified as being involved in a human trafficking ring involving sex and at least 100 men, Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said Tuesday.
The women, both 48, identified as managing the spas – four in Martin County and one in Jupiter – are Ruimei Li, of the 700 block of South U.S. 1 in Jupiter, and Lixia Zhu, of the 4900 block of Southeast Mariner Garden Circle in Stuart.
They were arrested Tuesday at residences in Martin and Palm Beach counties in a case Snyder said is in its beginning.

Here's what we know:
Hundreds of arrests are expected in the coming days, including "major players" and prominent community members, Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said.

A total of 171 arrest warrants have been issued in Indian River County and 45 have been arrested, said Sheriff Deryl Loar.
The cases in Indian River County have no connection to the human trafficking cases that were announced in Martin County and Jupiter.
