He did not win a legitimate election. Venezuela's constitution says that elections have to happen every 6 years in a certain month. Maduro called an election early, rigged it, and then "won". Venezuela's constitution also says that if there is no legitmate president for whatever reason then their Venezuelan congress choses an interim president, which they chose Guaido, until they can have a legitmate sanctioned election. Guaido is the legitimate president based on their own constitution until things calm down there and they can have fair elections again.
The press has the dumbest argument ever. 'POTUS had one meeting with Kim so why hasnt Kim completely denculearized. Trump has failed.' WTF, no other president has gotten us even as far as we are now.
