Houthis Claim They Killed Nine British Personnel In Southern Saudi Arabia

The Houthis have killed nine British fighters during a special operation in the southern Saudi province of Najran, the Yemeni group’s media wing revealed on February 23.

“The slain British fighters were about to lead several attacks by the mercenaries on the [Saudi-Yemeni] border,” the Houthis’ media wing quoted a military source as saying.

The Houthis didn’t clarify if the alleged British fighters were service members of the British Armed Forces or simply contractors hired by the Saudi-led coalition. The militaries of Saudi Arabia and the UAE are known for employing many foreign contractors.

If the incident is confirmed, this will be the second time British personnel came under attack in Yemen this year. A week ago, the Express revealed that two service members of the British Special Air Service (SAS) were injured in a roadside bomb blast while they were conducting a top-secret humanitarian mission in central Yemen.

The UK is one of the main supporters of the Saudi-led coalition. According to several reports, the kingdom supplied the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF), which is accused of war crimes, with cluster bombs and spare parts for its British-made warplanes. Despite an international criticism, the UK is still supporting the coalition’s war on the Houthis.

City welcome sign with Islamist woman in hijab sparks outrage in Sweden

On a digital advertising board at the entrance to Gävle in Sweden, a Muslim woman in a hijab has welcomed visitors to the city in the past week.

In a comment published on Facebook Gävle Municipality writes that Gävle is a city of “great diversity”.

“The woman in the ad is one of Gävle’s many Muslim women and she has chosen to wear the hijab because she wants to and because she feels like herself in it”, writes director of communications Johan Adolfsson.

Adolfsson is among other things known as one of the authors of the book “Pictures that change the world” – a guide on gender consciousness that calls for discrimination against whites, Christians and heterosexuals.

Roger Hedlund, who is a member of Parliament as a representative of the Sweden Democrats and also a member of Gävle City Council, is critical of the ad.

“Why legitimise a garment that for many women means constraint and oppression? What signal does that send out?”, he says.

The reactions to the advertising board have been strong on social media.

Another SD politician, Ghazal Saberian, criticise the advertisement on her Facebook: “Don’t you understand that at this very moment women are imprisoned in Iran and whipped for taking their veils off? Don’t you understand that women are stoned to death in Saudi Arabia for taking their veils off?”

“Why are we being bombarded with images of women in the most oppressive garment of all – the veil, in our public places?”, she writes.

Christian Democrat Soheila Fors shares a message she received from a female, non-veil-wearing Muslim in Gävle: “I am a Muslim but I don’t wear a veil. My sister is imprisoned in Iran for taking her veil off. And here the municipality advertises with veil wearers. Why not use regular Muslims? Don’t they understand that the hatred and persecution against us is recognised and approved by the ad? ”, the message says.

Many Swedes consider the ad board to be symbolic of the ongoing Islamisation of Sweden and that it, just like prayer calls, indicates that the city is Muslim.

In addition, it has emerged that the Muslim woman in question, Suzan Hindi, previously worked as a guide in a Salafist (extremist) mosque and also has links to the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood organisation.

It remains to be seen how long the board and ad will be up. The municipality will most likely not take it down. The inhabitants of Gävle, on the other hand, are known for vandalising public property. Torching of the city’s large Christmas goat is a popular amusement since many years. Maybe the board will meet the same fate!?

Macron wants to ban ‘hate speech’ convicts from all social media for life

Emmanuel Macron has suggested that anyone who has been convicted of ‘hate speech’ should lose access to social media platforms for life.

The French President brought the online censorship idea up at the annual dinner of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France, stating that a new way to tackle online hate speech should be tabled for May.

“The European fight must continue, but it is too slow,” Macron said comparing those convicted of hate speech to football hooligans banned from attending football matches.

France is set to “embed” regulators in Facebook to examine how effectively the social network tackles “hate speech,” according to Breitbart.

How the government will enforce, the ban remains unclear with Secretary of State for Digital Affairs Mounir Mahjoubi saying, “the IP address is what Twitter has on each user who publishes a message on its platform. It must, as soon as possible, send it to the justice system to quickly identify the author and then ‘we can continue.'”

“It is no longer acceptable today that platforms that have the means to help justice and the police to identify the person who has committed an offense online take several weeks, even months, before giving the information,” Mahjoubi said.

The new proposal would mark a significant shift to the current punishments of fines and prison sentences. Some have reacted to the proposal with criticism including French journalist Gabriel Robin who said the proposal could lead to anti-establishment voices, such as mass migration critic Eric Zemmour being excluded from social media.

US plans to buy weapons for Venezuelan opposition in Eastern Europe, warns diplomat

MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. The US is considering the possibility of buying weapons for the Venezuelan opposition in one of Eastern European countries, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.

"We have information that companies from the US and its NATO allies are considering the possibility of buying a large batch of weapons in one of Eastern European countries in order to provide them to the Venezuelan opposition. The batch will reportedly include heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, portable missile launchers and ammunition for light weapons and artillery systems. So this is what they mean when they talk about delivering humanitarian aid," she said.

Zakharova also said that the US and its allies intended to use cargo aircraft belonging to an international freight forwarder to deliver several shipments of weapons to Venezuela in early March "through a neighboring country".

"There is also a Ukrainian trace in this brazen plan. In particular, it is going to involve the Antonov state company, as far as we understand," the Russian diplomat noted.

Crisis in Venezuela

On January 23, Juan Guaido, Venezuelan opposition leader and parliament speaker, whose appointment to that position had been cancelled by the country’s Supreme Court, declared himself interim president at a rally in the country’s capital of Caracas.

Several countries, including the United States, Lima Group members (excluding Mexico), Australia, Albania, Georgia and Israel, as well as the Organization of American States, recognized him. Maduro, in turn, blasted the move as a coup staged by Washington and said he was severing diplomatic ties with the US.

In contrast, Russia, Belarus, Bolivia, Iran, Cuba, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Syria and Turkey voiced support for Maduro, while China called for resolving all differences peacefully and warned against foreign interference. The United Nations secretary general, in turn, called for dialogue to resolve the crisis.

The United States has left unanswered Russia’s proposal for reaffirming the commitment to efforts for preventing nuclear war, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in the wake of calls from the mayors of Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki, addressed to Russia and the United States, for preventing the severing of the Intermediate Nuclear Force Treaty.

"Washington is obviously not in the mood of having a meaningful and equitable discussion of the INF Treaty. Moreover, it shows no readiness in general for resuming a systematic bilateral dialogue on strategic issues and disarmament," Zakharova said. "Our proposal for joint reaffirmation of the commitment of Russia and the United States to efforts for preventing nuclear war has remained unanswered. Instead, the United States focused on attempts at excusing at any cost the obvious failures of its intelligence services, which provided either wrong or falsified information about the Russian missile (9M279 for the Iskander system - TASS)."

The United States is pushing ahead with intentional efforts to do away with this treaty.

"We are well aware of the public’s concern over the collapse of the INF Treaty, which is capable of dealing a hard blow on international security and global stability and drawing whole regions into a multilateral rams race. This will be fraught with faster erosion of the arms control architecture and negative effects for the future of nuclear disarmament and stability of nuclear non-proliferation," Zakharova said.

"Russia has repeatedly urged the United States and its allies in Europe and Asia, who unconditionally support Washington’s destructive polices, to pay due attention to this. We’ve proposed practical solutions that would make it possible to lift mutual concerns, preserve the treaty and continue the dialogue on nuclear arms reduction. We have to state with deep regret that all of them have been left unnoticed."

"We have never withdrawn any of our proposals. All of them remain on the table. Russia has not abandoned what it proposed. It is to be hoped the United States will eventually become aware solutions through a dialogue will be more preferable and will realize the futility of attempts to attain military supremacy," Zakharova said.

"We would like the mayors of the Japanese cities and their population to know this. Everything that we’ve done has remained unnoticed. No concrete action followed," Zakharova said. At the same time she pointed to publications in some Japanese mass media the country’s leadership might nominate the US leadership for the peace award.

The professor has been speaking out against human-driven climate change theories since 1998, stating, “Two cycles of global warming and two of global cooling have occurred during the past century, and the global cooling that has occurred since 1998 is exactly in phase with the long term pattern.”

As I have mentioned numerous times, cyclical patterns of global cooling/warming have occurred throughout recorded history. “Global cooling occurred from 1880 to ~1915; global warming occurred from ~1915 to ~1945; global cooling occurred from ~1945-1977; global warming occurred from 1977 to 1998; and global cooling has occurred since 1998. All of these global climate changes show exceptionally good correlation with solar variation since the Little Ice Age 400 years ago,” Easterbrook proclaimed. As this winter has shown, we are currently in a period of global cooling and not global warming.

Despite the evidence that states this is a naturally occurring phenomenon, politicians are more concerned about warming their pockets with taxpayer dollars than addressing the real issues. Unsurprisingly, the real concerns that need to be addressed have fallen on deaf ears. Easterbrook pleaded, “The real question now is not trying to reduce atmospheric CO2 as a means of stopping global warming, but rather (1) how can we best prepare to cope with the 30 years of global cooling that is coming, (2) how cold will it get, and (3) how can we cope with the cooling during a time of exponential population increase?” Will these legitimate concerns be addressed by politicians or the Yellow Vest movement that claims to care so much about the people? US lawmakers bully Ireland over move to ban Israel’s settlement goods

A grouping of US politicians has threatened Ireland with economic repercussions if it bans goods from Israel’s settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Both houses in the Irish parliament, the Oireachtas, have approved a bill to outlaw Israel’s settlement exports during the past few months. Ten US lawmakers have reacted to the moves by warning that a ban could have “potentially severe implications” for the country.

In a letter to Irish political leaders, the 10 members of Congress suggested that some corporations investing would be violating US export regulations if the Dublin authorities enforced a ban on Israel’s settlement goods.

That appears to be a reference to rules introduced by the US during the 1970s in response to the Arab League boycott of Israel. Under these rules, US companies may not take part in boycott activities unless they have been approved by the federal government.

Claiming that the “stakes for Ireland are high,” the lawmakers note the importance of US investment for the country. They cite data suggesting that the US accounted for 67 percent of all foreign direct investment in Ireland during 2017.

Apple, they note, is the largest company active in Ireland, which also has attracted considerable investment from Google, Microsoft and Facebook.

Airlines admit having cameras installed on back of passengers’ seats

Three of the world’s biggest airlines have admitted some of their planes have cameras installed on the backs of passenger seats.

American Airlines, United Airlines and Singapore Airlines have new seat-back entertainment systems that include cameras.

They could also be on planes used by other carriers.

Companies that make the entertainment systems are fitting them with cameras to offer passengers options such as seat-to-seat video conferencing, according to an American Airlines spokesman.

But American, United and Singapore all say they have never activated the cameras and have no plans to use them.

A passenger on a Singapore flight tweeted a photograph last week of the seat-back display, prompting other air travellers to voice concerns about their privacy at 30,000ft.

Vitaly Kamluk, who photographed the camera on his flight, suggested that carriers should cover the lenses with stickers and said it would be easy for airlines to monitor passengers with them.
