The pilot of the Amazon plane that crashed Saturday near Houston was Rick Blakely, grew up in Tanzania as a Southern Baptist missionary kid.

According to the article, there were no distress calls but, I am told by someone close to the family that Rick Blakely maneuvered the plane away from the populated areas to prevent greater loss of life. Not sure how they would know that, just putting it out there to ponder.
