Missing teen. Bro in law had someone with him, whether bro knows or not. Perhaps he was followed home. That 'friend' knew about the girl and when b-i-l passed out/fell asleep, friend used blanket to move unresponsive girl.

He took her backpack to throw off family. Giving him time while family thinks girl is at school.

Talk to brother in law about who he was with, any strangers hear him talk about or knew the girl was at his house.

No one takes a blanket to school or to run away with another. If she planned to meet someone she would have worn the fresh clothes but, she left behind. She would have packed the toothbrush if she planned to be away.
