The Thing That Is Most Reprehensible, by aoc.

aoc: "The New Green Deal isn't even a binding bill. It's a resolution. For those of you who aren't familiar, there are two kinds of resolutions in the House. and in the Senate, – or two types of legislation. One is a bill. And a bill passes the House, passes the Senate, and then it goes and gets signed by the President. A resolution is a statement. And it does not pass through any one body to another. So the President doesn't even have to sign The New Green deal. If we called a vote on The Green New Deal tomorrow, or on Tuesday, when I got back to DC, and it passed, nothing would happen. Literally, nothing would happen. Because it's a resolution. It is a statement. Be it resolved. It's us agreeing to a statement. Not even any binding course of action. A statement."

Also, aoc said at the top: aoc: "We need to solve this issue now."

See H. RES. 109

Recognizing the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal.

Snippets:

"United States must take a leading role in reducing emissions through economic transformation"

"climate change constitutes a direct threat to the national security of the United States"

"House of Representatives recognizes that a new national, social, industrial, and economic mobilization on a scale not seen since World War II and the New Deal era is a historic opportunity"

"Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That it is the sense of the House of Representatives that—

(1) it is the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal"

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is fast-tracking a Green New Deal resolution through the Senate, enabling a vote as early as next week.

[…]

It was accompanied by a fact sheet produced by Ocasio-Cortez’s staff that called for eliminating the need for air travel, retrofitting every house and building to green energy standards, and reforming the nation’s agricultural practices to eliminate cows.

So, yes, The New Green Deal is a Simple Resolution of the House as per current standing. However, McConnell may bring it to the Senate and it may become a Concurrent Resolution. It still would not have the force of law and would not be sent to the President for his approval.

Call it the Simpleton's Resolution for The New Green Deal.

Being a Dem is not the problem. Being a Repub is not the solution. If the Dem Party crumbled and fell apart, would you want to be ruled by the Repub party by default? (Rhetorical question.)

Mattis might be a traditional Dem of olden days, kek. The kind that ought to make a comeback to keep the Repubs honest (or moar honest). Break up the parties and reset the political playing field, might be the eventual outcome here, if POTUS is re-elected in 2020.
