WASHINGTON D.C. Late today Congresswoman Nita Lowey, Democratic Chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee, revealed recent committee discussions over a spending measure likely to be included in future appropriations packages.
The measure, said to be a high priority on the committee’s agenda, is to secure funding for a recently declassified NASA program that involves the a powerful new rocket system.
Multiple unnamed sources directly involved in committee’s discussions have revealed that the rocket system being developed by NASA would not be deployed for use in outer space. Rather, the new rockets being designed for the project would be anchored deeply into the Earth’s bedrock, and a large network of the rockets would be constructed in a global array that would be staggered across Earth’s surface.
According to reports, the rocket system’s new technology and large scale will give scientists the ability to manipulate the speed and direction of the Earth’s rotation or modify the Earth's axis. Researchers have concluded that, with adequate power, the system would even enable the redirection of the Earth’s orbit. The ultimate goal of the project is to modify the trajectory of the Earth’s orbit in order to send it directly into the the center of the sun.
Sources say the committee believes the bill will have strong support of the in the House of Representatives. Several Senate Republicans have hinted that they would support the funding measure.
