Baker, anons, can we talk about globals?

It seems they've again swelled beyond their original intent, and if we don't address it, we'll have yet another tier of "Best Most Important Extra Special Notables" to argue over. That is not the intention of this category.

The original intention is for board-wide announcements about the board.

As such, the top 3 are Globals, the bottom two are not. I would request baker remove them.

NOT global (board-wide announcements):

While this is possibly valuable to many anons, it does not technically pertain to our board, but personal computer operation. Notables aren't endorsements, and they're certainly not personal tech advice. Once we open ourselves to that kind of info sharing, where do we draw the line? Flu shots? Dating tips? Who's to say even whether the noted advice is useful, or safe?

We are a research group, not an activism hub. Drawing a distinction here does not mean we don't value activism, it just means it's not our place to administer it. Because if we did, where do we draw the line? How many calls to act do we put in globals, and for how long?

Keep in mind we are a grass-roots org, and bakers are just anons who step up to serve best they can. If we don't have clear lines about what does or doesn't qualify as notable, it leaves bakers open to constant whining and arguing, and leaves open wedges for shills to push. It benefits all of us to have clear distinctions IMO.

Yes, the Memetic Warfare Recruiting global could be interpreted as a call-to-act, but it's one specific to the use of our board, from one of the anons who administers that aspect of our board, and according to Q's specific requests of us as researchers and memers.
