Genie Oil: The Syria, Goldman Sachs, Israel, ISIS connection

 

(VERO BEACH, FLA) A company named Genie Energy, with major investors and advisors such as Lord Rothschild, former VP Dick Cheney and news mogul Rupert Murdoch, could be at the center of decade long play for Israeli energy dominance in the Middle East.

 

Other major players associated with Genie Energy include economist Larry Summers, Democratic Party veteran Bill Richardson, and former CIA director James Woolsey.

 

Genie Energy Ltd. (GNEPRA) is an American-based oil and gas company comprised of two operating divisions, Genie Retail Energy division (GRE) and Genie Oil and Gas (GOGAS). GRE operates retail energy providers and brokerage and marketing services, while GOGAS is a global oil and gas exploration company operating an exploratory program in Northern Israel through a subsidiary called Afek Oil and Gas.

 

The current President of Afek Oil and Gas is Efraim “Effi” Eitam, a former Israeli military commander who called for expelling Arabs from Israel.

 

Genie Energy’s Israeli arm, Afek Oil and Gas, was first given a license to drill in the Golan Heights area in April 2013, but due to legal challenges by the Society for Protection of Nature in Israel and Greenpeace development was halted until December 2014. The exploratory drilling began near the small town of Katzrin, northeast of the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee.

 

In October 2015 Afek Oil and Gas confirmed the discovery of oil in the Golan Heights.

 

In November 2015, The Economist, partially owned by the Rothschild family, ran a story titled “Black gold under the Golan” which detailed Genie Energy’s find in the Golan Heights.

 

“Israel’s decision in 1981 to annex the Golan (unlike the West Bank, which remains formally under military occupation) caused a diplomatic crisis with America,” The Economist noted. “The heights are still regarded internationally as illegally-occupied Syrian territory.”

 

The Economist added that “an influential group” including Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and his former cabinet secretary Zvi Hauser were actively lobbying Israel’s government to take advantage of the chaos in Syria to demand “international recognition” of their section of the oil rich Golan Heights.

 

Netanyahu, according to The Economist, urged that Israel should demand this as compensation for having tolerated Obama’s Iranian nuclear agreement.

 

Gaining control of the Golan Heights has long been a goal of Israel.

Greenstein is or was also both President and Treasurer of American Friends of Mosaic United. Mosaic United is an organization spearheaded by the Israeli government’s Naftali Bennett, with it being the flagship project of the Diaspora Affairs Ministry of Israel, Bennett previously called for the world to recognize the Golan Heights as Israeli territory and for a population boom to take place there through new settlements. Bennett also compared the Golan Heights to the West Bank and stated that it is land that must not be given to enemies.

 

Who do they want us to give the Golan to? To Assad? Today, it’s clear that if we listened to the world we would give up the Golan and ISIS would be swimming in the Sea of Galilee. Enough with the hypocrisy.

 

Mosaic United, a reincarnation of the Government of Israel World Jewry Initiative, had attracted attention last year when it created a database of Jewish students to micro-target Hasbara toward abroad—before it was suspended.

 

Bennett has been the Minister of Diaspora Affairs since 2013, more recently a bill proposed by him while Minister of Education has been passed through its first reading, which criminalizes criticism of the Israeli military.

 

Direct ties to Israel’s own affairs such as these is tantamount to Greenstein essentially working for the Israeli government's interests (A violation of the Logan Act), especially as it relates to specific geopolitical goals, such as controlling the Golan Heights. Like Kushner, whose name was removed from the Friends of the IDF (FIDF) website where he was a board member, it is not clear what Greenstein’s continued role in Israeli organizations like Mosaic United still is.

 

Bennett also stated during Trump’s victory in 2016, that it essentially meant the end of the Palestinian state, which again is an objective reflected in the Trump administration such as recognizing Jerusalem or moving the embassy.

 

Earlier, a key ally in Netanyahu’s center-right coalition, Education Minister Naftali Bennett, said Tump’s victory means that “the era of a Palestinian state is over.” The Palestinians want a state in lands Israel captured in 1967…

 

Greenstein is or was also a Director of Regal Bank in Livingston, New Jersey, where Kushner had listed $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 in corporate stock, which he had indicated on his form as still being in the process of being divested.

Cheney, Rothschild, and Fox News’ Murdoch Begin Drilling for Oil in Syria — a Violation of Int’l Law

 

After concluding the flow testing phase, Afek Oil and Gas will now begin analyzing samples drawn from the Ness-2 drilling site, euphemistically dubbed “Deborah’s Well,” in the Israeli-occupied region of Syria known as the Golan Heights. New Jersey-based Genie Energy, Ltd., Afek’s parent company, claims a dubious cadre of investors cum war profiteers, including Rupert Murdoch, Dick Cheney, Lord Jacob Rothschild, James Woolsey — as well as a number of current and former U.S. politicians.

 

Prior testing at a separate Afek site did not meet expectations, so the company sought other “sweet spots” in the area. Analysis of samples from additional wells will be performed by Afek scientists in conjunction with “external international experts.”

 

To understand U.S. involvement in the quagmire in Syria, Afek’s oil exploration is of critical import.

 

Israel’s occupation of the Golan Heights region violates international law — thus, Israeli permits granting Afek the ostensible right to perform exploratory tests of a possible “large reservoir” of natural gas and light oil is also illegal. But in a world where Big Oil remains powerful enough to drive foreign policy of the U.S. empire, this direct violation of the Geneva Convention might not even be worthy of a footnote — except to the people of Syria.

 

In fact, as The Free Thought Project’s Justin Gardner previously reported, the unsavory character heading Genie Oil is none other than Efraim “Effie” Eitam, an Israeli military commander and former Knesset member who once called for the expulsion of the “cancer” of Arabs from Israel.

 

“Expel most of the Judea and Samaria Arabs from here,” Eitam arrogantly asserted during a soldier’s memorial service in 2006. “We cannot be with all these Arabs and we cannot give up the land, because we have already seen what they do there. Some of them may be able to stay under certain conditions, but most of them will have to go.”

 

In addition to the eyebrow-raising cabal of Eitam, Murdoch, Cheney, and Rothschild, Genie Oil and Gas appointed new members to its Strategic Advisory Board last September, including:

 

“Dr. Lawrence Summers, 71st Secretary of the Treasury under President Clinton and Director of the National Economic Council under Pres. Obama; former Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu, who is credited with helping pass the U.S.-Israel Energy Cooperation Bill while she chaired the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources; former governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, who became an energy insider after serving as the Clinton administration’s Energy Secretary; and former Director of Central Intelligence, R. James Woolsey, who co-founded the U.S. Energy Security Council.”

 

At stake is a 153 square-mile region in the Golan Heights, demarcated by Israeli authorities as exclusive territory for Afek to perform exploratory testing, which began in 2015, through early April 2017.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s alliance with an ultranationalist political party has raised significant concerns among US Jews, a top leader in the Jewish American community said Sunday.

 

Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, said the move is “very disturbing” to many American Jews. He said there are also concerns that it will provide new ammunition for Israel’s critics.
