And we're expected to believe "they stole it"? Like anyone would believe they could have stolen that much gold without major ass kickings going on.

My guess is more likely they were guardians of it (at best) for the favor of a significant 3rd party. Maybe the ones that bought them all those shiny new Toyota's.
