Holy See's statement on Cardinal Pell
Let's translate their verbal jiu jitsu:
1) We respect the judicial authorities =
we own you, we can hurt you – appeal to authority
2) We await the appeal process = we put no stock in the jury verdict
3) Pell maintains his innocence = despite a conviction, he's innocent and we will exhaust all appeals (paid by the Church, of course)
4) While awaiting the definitive judgement = again, we reject the JURY VERDICT in hopes that a judge we own will over turn the conviction
5) while awaiting the definitive assessment of the facts, as is the norm = f*ck the jury verdict, only the appeal will sort the facts (which is b.s.)
this is so enraging!
