Boomers typically were the last generation who had near total freedom as kids, no internet, many never even had TVs until they were near grown. The vast majority left home at 18 and pretty much only the “rich” kids could afford to go to college. Working class and middle class kids paid their own way or the military route. They weren’t stepping out to good paying jobs. “Starting at the bottom” and working your way up was a cultural expectation. Most rarely went to the doctor (treated symptoms at home) and for that matter, they didn’t go to the dentist either.
