Everything has a contingency. The mistake would be the assumption that POTUS was upset over the failure to reach a deal. That was all hinted at not going to go through.

There are several things unfolding at the moment that I have caught. First is the usual show in Washington. Second is the issue with India and Pakistan. Third is the release of DoD papers which suggest North Korea has nuclear bombs in orbit and able to be used as an EMP weapon.

I think the expressions are something of an act. I also think the media largely shapes public opinion by choosing to feature certain expressions. President Trump's neutral face, when zeroed in on and featured, can have a range of emotions projected onto it - disappointment/hostility being among them.

As far as what happened, both parties were able to walk away from the table without reaching an agreement and still agree to meet again - this reinforces the message that each party is capable of making its own decisions. NK isn't just cowing tow to the U.S. - and the U.S. isn't so desperate to make a deal that we are willing to make concessions just to get one.

Shuttle launch countdown. (Nuclear bombs in orbit)… Someone put those there. I doubt NK, as they barely have the ability to put a warhead on the West Coast, but … Other nations or entities might be able to deliver a nuclear warhead into orbit or geosynch orbit.
