It used to be known as and is still often referred to as the

'PIKE COMMITTEE"

at the original forming. In 1976 there was a report done known as the Pike Report, congress had it buried, only parts leaked out but a full version was printed in England. See link below

Pike Report was very critical of some CIA NSA (the usual suspects) shenanigans & were disbanded. There is a lot of info in the report.
