I think Jesus and God, because of the influences in media and heavy attachment to society, take on aspects of the mind. In other words, your own psyche is comprised of those two roles and many others due to conditioning.
Sometimes you fracture/split, and those psyches belong to something/someone else.
And it takes your mind a while to put itself back together.
Problem is if you don't put it together, you release the personality to the object, person, or entity and become lost in terms of your mind's structure, and that mind is in the paradigm of the entity having that personality. It's a pseudo alternate reality until you can think your way out.
That's how I've thought about it in the past.
