MSNBC's Haake: Bush family legacy 'erased from conservative history' at CPAC
MSNBC correspondent Garrett Haake said Friday that the Bush family and its legacy have "been erased from conservative history" at CPAC, adding that the gathering of conservatives had become more about President Trump.
CPAC kicked off on Wednesday in National Harbor, Maryland, with big name speakers, including Vice President Pence, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Fox News hosts Laura Ingraham and Jeanine Pirro.
President Trump is scheduled to address the conference on Saturday.
โThis has become a pro-Trump conference more than it is a conservative conference," Haake said to anchor Ali Velshi on Friday. "He is the uniting factor for all of the folks who are attending here."
"History changes around this conference," he continued. "If you were to listen to the speakers over the course of two days, you would hear about three presidents: Ronald Reagan who is held up as an exemplar here, then Barack Obama who is the worst president of all time, and then Donald Trump."
"The Bush family, the entire legacy, has been erased from conservative history at this conference," Haake concluded.

Unhappy with Trump and populists, Kochs for first time will intervene in GOP primaries
The Koch political network for the first time plans to intervene in GOP primaries as part of a deliberate 2020 strategy to reverse years of essentially rubber-stamping the Republican Party in general elections.
Disappointed with Republicans in Congress and occasionally at odds with President Trump, the coalition of political groups overseen by Charles Koch has been re-evaluating its engagement in federal campaigns. Playing in GOP primaries to elect more like-minded Republicans to the House and Senate is key tactical adjustment the network has agreed to, with a top Koch official confirming that incumbents could be targeted for defeat.
โWe think that if weโre going to be more selective, you know, raise the bar before getting involved, that it makes sense, therefore, to do more primaries,โ Tim Phillips, who runs Americans for Prosperity, the Koch grassroots arm, told the Washington Examiner on Thursday while making the rounds at the Conservative Political Action Conference. The Washington Examiner is a CPAC media sponsor.
โIf your model is, be more selective โ try to find people who are genuinely policy champions,โ Phillips added, โthen there are going to be times that the primary is the crucial aspect of being able to do that.โ
