Read up on isolationism. It is bringing down the UK and the US as we speak. A country cannot thrive in this century, in this world, by unplugging like was possible many centuries ago. You are being weakened by convincing you that you would be better off not working with others. Divide and conquer. The US and UK took the bait. The rest of the world watches you destroy yourselves in stunned disbelief.

It is your belief in your exceptionalism that is causing your nation to make terrible decisions believing you are immune to making the same bad decisions other countries have made, and refusing to learn lessons the rest of the world has already learned.
