Merseyflow(UK) run a sytem over the new Liverpool/Widnes/Runcorn bridge whereby there are no toll booths just cameras.

Every vehicle is logged and you have to pay at a local store or online by Midnight the following day or get fined.

You can get a yearly permit which is a barcode

sticker to put on your windscreen and the cameras pick it up automatically and log each journey too your account where you you top-up your account by payments online.

So yes systems already exist that do not require a hard border and can be installed within months if required.

But nobody tells us WHY?

Do some digging .

Control of roads is South America/ Asia/Europe.

Ability to track traffic at key points.

Oh on the Brexit issue they also control the Dublin freeflow motorway M50 already has systems in place to apply to the border eflow,ie

so a soft border could be put in place without any problem.

But interesting if you project this out goverments can log All traffic on their networks

and easily keep track of you.
