FORT MYERS, Fla. - A jury found VR Labs owners, Robert and Kathy Gow, guilty of duping Lee County taxpayers out of millions of dollars.

Robert and Kathy Gow were convicted on ten charges each, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering, wire fraud, and illegal monetary transaction.

Williams was found guilty of three out of five similar charges.

Sentencing dates for Robert, Kathy and business associate John Williams Jr. were announced on Monday: all three will be held on Monday, May 20th in Fort Myers before Judge John Steele.

Kathy's will be at 9:30 a.m., Robert's will be at 10 a.m. and Williams' will be at 10:30 a.m.

The Gows touted their companies VR Labs and Herbal Science as being the newest and next big things in sports drink manufacturing. Lee County gave them $4.7 million in grant money upfront to get their business off the ground, but they never produced anything.

Federal prosecutors said the Naples couple lied about the legitimacy of their two companies when they accepted the incentive money from the county shortly after starting their businesses in 2010.

The Gows face a maximum penalty of 45 years in federal prison, while Williams faces a maximum of 25 years.
