Once read a novel where 1730s British Army officers are playing a game of cards. It turns out that something comes up missing, and everyone is asked to turn their pockets inside out to prove they are clean. One officer refuses, and is accused. He still refuses, and is prepared to fight a duel for his honor. A high ranking officer takes him aside and asks him what the deal is. He says that he lost all his savings and all he has left is his uniform and his honor, and it would be too humiliating to show that in his pocket is a crust of bread, which is all he has to eat. DJT holding back his returns is like that guy. In the end we are going to find out that he has his own reasons.
