Just curious- my understanding is that the Internet is controlled By ICANN, (the international corporation for assigned names and numbers). Though I think the idea of an Internet bill of rights is a great idea, How would the USA - which gave up control of the internet under Obama- go about creating an internet bill of rights that would apply internationally? We could pursue it with Corporations and companies based in the USA, but how would that work out with other countries who arent based in the USA? Would for instance Saudi Arabian citizens be granted those rights to free speech and the ability to speak against the Government even if the Saudi Government doesnt want them to have those rights? wouldnt it have to be something that was agreed to Internationally? How would the USA grant rights that would apply to citizens of other countries without international agreement? I think its a great idea, but how would you implement it? would the bill of rights just apply to social media and blogs? I like the idea, but I am not understanding how this would work. Can someone explain how this idea works in an environment of a World Wide Web not under US Control.
