I’ve met many pageant girls. It’s a split to them being either extremely kind and well mannered or completely vapid and cut throat. It’s an odd culture that I’ve never understood. But in a historical context, pageants were a great way for women to gain a step up in the world on their own merits. Albeit sometimes quite shallow ones. However, it still surprises me that the pageant culture still exists today. It seems as though the culture dies, it becomes much more concentrated and volitale. Much like the what is happening to the Democratic Party.
