Perhaps Trump is believing his own BS. Part of the country has benefited from a better economy but the other part has not. It's similar to what happened under Obama except the groups are reversed.
If Trump can't fix enough, each subsequent president will become more radical until eventually an oppressive dictator is elected. It's just a matter of will that person lean right or left.
