Not sure if you're Christian or not but since another anon brought up Jesus not wanting to be worshiped i'll respond in regards to Him. Those who believe in Him accept that He is also God. Our first commandment is to serve and worship God alone, no other gods (including ourselves) besides Him. By saying we have power and not to worship God outside of us, those are words of the devil who wants us not to recognize the place of God Who is above all. We have no power without God.. This isn't witchcraft.. we don't have the power. We pray because God alone is all powerful. Praying is merely talking with God, be it in formal prayers already written, or in just speaking with Him. If you want to get literal from the Bible, just say the Lord's prayer as we were instructed to.. because God being infinite already knows what we intend to say before we say it. If you're not as religious, God still understands you.. just spend some time talking about what you intend to pray for and God will see that as a prayer. But remember that God is above all and we are all called to worship God alone.
